Holidays & Parades

So help me God, I've never been one of those anal Disney visitors that has to have every single second plotted and planned and if we don't stick to a schedule my head falls off and rolls into a corner HOWEVER, this trip seems to be the semi exception.

Disney does so much good stuff for the holidays and I'd really like the boys to see and experience as much of it as I can.

In that vein...

They join about a dozen other Disney characters headed by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse to mix and mingle and dance in the street with Magic Kingdom guests during a 12- to 15-minute party that takes place three times daily.
Sign language interpreted performances Monday & Thursday at 11:00am.

Morocco Pavillion:
Dad, I know you aren't a big fan of Middle Eastern food. (Have you ever tried it or is it simply your aversion to garlic?)
So this blog is specifically for you. Since you are agreeing to try a new restaurant and be adventerous, you should know that with the yummy food comes a show.

My ONLY request for you "adult" males at dinner is to please, please remember there are two little boys at the table with you, one of which will go out of his way to try to be adult and cool and is not above behaving like a total fool to try to impress you.
Don't be surprised if Lion jumps up and tries to dance with her. The kid is a dancing machine and cannot sit still when he hears music.

If you promise to behave, I will see what I can do about getting a table close to the musicians and to the belly dancer of the day.

If for some reason we miss the dancers or we can't get a table close don't fret. These gals are in the Moroccan Pavilion during the day as well

Christmas at Disney World

I'm so excited to share the holidays with you all and to be able to spend them in Disney World just makes the season that much more special.

I'm torn between telling you every little single thing so we don't miss a moment of the merry events or sights and keeping the whole thing under wraps so you both have that "moment".

I'm going to share becuase I've done this celebration a few times and every single time I see the castle lit and watch the snowflakes fall I get tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. It never fails. It's that magical and that special.
Seeing it on video and in person are two completely different events and showing you a sneak peak won't ruin it.

What Special Holidays Happenings are at the Magic Kingdom?

Castle Dream Lights -- When daylight has passed during the holiday season, Magic Kingdom guests can behold a breathtaking transformation during the Castle Dream Lights ceremony.
Each evening November 8 and continuing through January 3, 2012, Cinderella and favorite characters decked out in holiday garb take to the stage and magically transform Cinderella Castle into an ice palace aglow with 200,000 white lights – a perfect centerpiece to a park all decked out with wreaths, bows, garland and towering Christmas trees.

Mickey's Once upon a Christmastime Parade celebrates the many festive moods of the holiday season, showcasing a series of holiday themes including a Friends and Family Christmastime Party, a sleigh ride through a Winter Wonderland, a romantic Fairy Tale Christmastime, a scrumptious display of Christmastime sweets, and of course Santa and Mrs. Claus in a grand finale. And for longtime Disney Christmas parade fans: Soldiers, Snowflakes and dancing deer are all still in the parade. The parade features original music as well as both classic and current holiday tunes.
A number of special holiday shows take place from mid-December on.

The Magic Kingdom Tree lighting ceremony takes place most nights on Main Street.
Celebrate the Season at Castle Forecourt Stage is performed daily beginning mid-December.
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a special "hard ticket" event.

Tell me more about Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, which kicks off at 7 p.m. on select evenings (after regular Magic Kingdom closing), is pure, time-honored Disney magic.
Holiday revelers can sip cocoa, catch a "snowflake" on a fingertip and catch the spirit of the season through enchanting entertainment that includes live shows, fireworks, carolers and special character meet and greets.
Dancing gingerbread, marching soldiers and Santa's sleigh parade down Main Street, U.S.A. to seasonal melodies during the twice-nightly "Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade".
Cinderella Castle is draped radiantly with 200,000 glistening white lights and "Holiday Wishes, Celebrate the Spirit of the Season" fireworks lights the night sky during a pyrotechnics show orchestrated to holiday melodies.

The night wouldn't be complete without the forecasted flurry of snowflakes along Main Street, U.S.A. and a warming cup of cocoa in hand. Party-goers also enjoy complimentary cookies and apple slices and enjoy unlimited admission to favorite attractions.
Holiday stage shows include the following:
Celebrate the Season at the Castle and Totally Tomorrowland Christmas Show in Tomorrowland's new theatre.
The parade is spectacular and is accompanied by great Disney Magic and Music.

How much does MVMCP cost? Is it offered every night?
A separate admission ticket is required.

Children under 3 are admitted free.
Buy your tickets early! A number of MVMCP events SELL OUT! For more information, call 407-W-DISNEY.
In previous years, the park would close and then reopen. Now the park stays open through regular closing time. Be sure to get a special MVMCP wristband before 7 p.m. Cast Members will direct guests without the bands to leave the park.

This sounds like a lot of fun, but is it overly crowded?
WDW limits the number of tickets sold in order to keep the crowds down and many nights do sell out in advance. It is estimated that tickets max out around 20,000.
I have never been, what tips can you give me?
Buy a Disney Holiday Hat and Join in the Fun!
Santa Hats with Mickey Ears and Reindeer Horns with Mickey Ears are Available.
Ride the Mountains during the First Parade!
Enjoy the special shows.
Take in the Snow on Main Street!
Visit the characters in Fantasyland later in the evening.
Make sure to watch the Special Fireworks!
Watch the second showing of the parade.
Pace yourself -- the park empties quite a bit by midnight and you'll have most attractions to yourself.
The very first MVMCP was held on December 16, 1983.

Character Meet & Greets –
If you want to meet all of the characters at the Party, this is one area where you might want to employ a bit of strategy. First, get in line early (prior to 7 pm) for the Seven Dwarfs.
As long as you visit the Dwarfs early before a line accumulates, you should be fine. The stars of the party, the Country Bears, rarely attract crowds (more like, “who are you?” questions) as they wander the parks, and they are an incredible amount of fun if you stick around to ‘play’ with the bears.
If you happen to find them inside the Adventureland Veranda (the hot cocoa spot in Adventureland) or the Golden Horseshoe, you can really have some fun with them. We spent nearly an hour at one party doing this.

In years past, Mickey & Minnie have been most accessible near the very end of the party. The same may not be true in 2011, as people may try to meet them as they exit the park. Keep this in mind when contemplating when you should visit them, and Santa Claus.

Complimentary Cookies & Hot Cocoa –
There are stations to get these all over the park. Although reasonable mind can differ on this, I think these free refreshments are delicious. Just thinking about them as I write this makes me hungry, and transports me back to memories of many a cold night sipping on hot cocoa to keep warm (it doesn’t work, but hey, why not try?!). Lines for refreshments can get bad near the front of the park (Crystal Palace especially) near the parade-time, but most of the time, you won’t encounter too bad of crowds.

I know that when it comes to our planning I don't have much say and I often leave the decision making to Mike. At this time of year though, there are a few things I really would love to do and will totally whine like a bitchy baby to get my way.

One of the things I really want to do again this year is visit as many of the resorts as I can to see their Christmas decorations.

Clearly we will see the Boardwalk and I'd like to go over one night and see the Yacht & Beach and maybe one afternoon we could do the Monorail circut and see the decorations at the Contemporary, then the Poly and then then Grand Floridian. I've also heard that the decorations at the Wilderness Lodge are not to be missed.
One of the other things I'd really like to do this year is a sleigh ride. I think the boys would get a huge kick out of it.

Price: $60.00 per group
Can accommodate 4 adults or 2 adults with 3 children ages 9 and under.
This 25 minute sleigh ride departs every 30 minutes from 5:30 - 9:30pm.
Check in at the Blacksmith's shop near the Settlement area.
This excursion can be booked up to 180 days in advance by calling 407-WDW-PLAY

I would also love to get a group photo with Santa Claus at Downtown Disney.

At Downtown Disney you can enjoy the Festival of the Seasons. Window shopping takes on a whole new meaning as you enjoy the wonderful holiday displays celebrating traditions from different cultures.

SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN
At the Marketplace, you'll find Santa Claus waiting to greet you at his chalet in front of the World of Disney store. You can take your own pictures or use PhotoPass:

December 25, 2010 - January 3, 2011 (Santa Goofy)
3:00 pm - 9:30 pm daily
Throughout the Holiday season, you'll find school choirs performing at the Dock Stage as well as DJ Dance Parties.

If we can't catch him there we can meet him at the Magic Kingdom:
MEET SANTA CLAUS
Santa Claus
will be meeting and greeting Magic Kingdom guests from 10:00am - 6:00pm at the Tour Guide Gardens next to City Hall.
You can also visit Santa during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party until he's needed for his very important role in the parade.
_________________________________________________________________________________
One of the other things is photos with the characters. I know, we did a lot in April and why the hell do we have to go and see Mickey Mouse AGAIN but we do. I have two small guys who are growing insanely fast before my eyes and I need to document them as often as I can.  That means a photo or two with some of the characters.

One of the other things I do at Christmas is I bring a string of lights with me along with a couple of suction cups and I hang lights out on our balcony and if I'm feeling extra festive, I bring some decorations for inside the room. Makes it a little more fun to come "home" to.

Pack as much of your holiday spirit and joy to the world and kindness and patience. It's a crowded time of year but insanely magical and I'm super excited to go!

Photos of Boardwalk Inn

Boardwalk FAQ

Our Hotel is the Boarwalk Inn:What is the theming of the Boardwalk Inn?

The 378 room Boardwalk Inn captures the feel of the '20s and '30s Eastern Seaboard. Crescent Lake makes a beautiful place to stroll around the Boardwalk. The Boardwalk itself is reminiscent of an easy going era of entertainment, dining, and vacation fun. The lighthearted, yet elegant atmosphere is pleasing to just about any age.
The lobby has beautiful furnishings, whimsical carousel rugs, interesting models of roller coasters and carousels, and music that will take you back to the Great Gatsby era. The window seats along the hall of the lobby are inviting conversation areas. The chandeliers and hard wood floors add an air of elegance to this lively, fun at heart resort. Outside the lobby is a wonderful deck with chairs to sit back and people watch, read a book, or just take a few moments to relax.
The Boardwalk Inn shares common spaces with the Disney Vacation Club Boardwalk Villas.
Other deluxe resorts are nestled in the Crescent Lake area. The Yacht and Beach Clubs blend in beautifully and the theme fits perfectly with the three resorts around the lake. The Swan and Dolphin are a short walk away and add to the idea of whimsy and fun.
What are the advantages of staying at the Boardwalk Inn?
The close proximity to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios make this a convenient place to stay. Having 4 other premium resorts within walking distance makes the Boardwalk a sure bet for great dining and entertainment options. The promise of entertainment and fun on the Boardwalk is great for families, or even fun-loving couples. Being a deluxe resort, the Boardwalk Inn lures those who want to be pampered and enjoy all of the amenities a deluxe resort has to offer.
How are the rooms laid out?

The rooms are well appointed with either 2 queen beds and a daybed, or a king-size bed and a daybed. An armoire houses the flat screen television and provides drawer space for your belongings. There is a small table with 1 chair, a spacious closet, a chest of drawers, and a private balcony or patio. The bathroom is great for more than one person trying to get ready in the morning. The toilet and bathtub are separate from the vanity area. The vanity has two sinks and plenty of counter room, and a full length mirror on the door.
What are the differences between the room views?

The Standard View category can either overlook the manicured grounds near the entrance of the resort, with the parking lot beyond that; or they can overlook beautiful gardens and walkways and quiet pool. These Standard Views seem to be the most private since they are closed off from the Boardwalk and the parking areas.
The Water View room category overlook Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk, and tend to be more lively in the evening hours. These Water View rooms are sometimes referred to as Preferred Views. A Variable View is usually used in conjunction with discounted rooms and means you won't have a guaranteed view because of the discount.
Standard Rooms are for all guests, including Concierge Club. Deluxe rooms are much larger and Concierge.
Are there smoking and nonsmoking rooms?

As of June 1, 2007, all Disney resorts are now smoke free. There are designated outdoor smoking areas. Check the resort map or with a Cast Member for designated outdoor locations. A $250-$500 room recovery fee, plus tax, will be charged for smoking in Guest Rooms, on balconies or patios.
How does Check-in and Check-Out work?

Online Check-in is available 10 days prior to your stay. Look for the special Online Check-in line at the resort's front desk.
As with most of the other resort hotels, check-out is at 11am, check-in is at 3pm. Upon arrival head to the front desk for check-in. Rooms are generally not available until 3pm. Early check-in allows you to leave luggage with bell services, get your "Key to the World Cards", received your theme park tickets (if you don't already have them) and head off to the parks or relax around the resort. What about the Concierge Rooms and Garden Suites?

The Boardwalk boasts Concierge Service (the Innkeeper's Club) and beautiful Garden Suites, in addition to its already well-appointed rooms.
Concierge service offers deluxe rooms with added amenities such as: robes, TV speaker in the bathroom, deluxe nightly turn down service, and continental breakfast buffet. Most rooms are on the 4th floor. Concierge level guests have their own private lounge and private access. Epcot's IllumiNations can be seen nightly from the balcony in the Concierge Lounge.
The Concierge Lounge "Innkeeper's Club " hours of service are: Continental Breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m.; Refreshments from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Tea and Sweets from 3 to 4:30 p.m.; Wine and Cheese Selections from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and Cordials and Desserts from 7 to 9 p.m.
The Garden Suites are designed for Honeymooners but can easily accommodate a family of four and are two stories. There are 14 Garden Suites and all but three have private entrance courtyards. The three that do not, have private balconies. The yards are separated by white picket fences that are about 3 feet tall. Each of the front yards are individually landscaped. At the gated entrance to the yard, there is a small decorative bird house with the room number on it. These front yards lead to the one and only entry way of the suite, and are being grown into manicured rose gardens.
There is a living room on the first floor and a bedroom loft on the second floor. The first floor has a TV, 1/2 bath, bread bar, and a queen size sofa bed. The 2nd level loft, in most cases, overlooks the lower level which creates a very large, vaulted ceiling effect. The three with private balconies have more of an actually separate second level. Either way, the second level features an elevated King size bed. Upstairs you will also find an addition TV, and a full bath with a giant Jacuzzi tub that will easily accommodate two people. There is even a third mini TV for viewing while in the Jacuzzi tub.

Most rooms have a maximum five-person occupancy per room. Prices are per room, and there is an additional adult charge of $25 per adult per night for more than two adults in a room.
What's the difference between the Boardwalk Villas and the Boardwalk Inn?

Disney's Boardwalk Villas are part of the Disney Vacation Club. These are larger accommodations that include either a kitchenette or full kitchen, washer and dryer (in all but the studios). The same Disney resort privileges apply however the DVC villas do not have daily housekeeping as part of their nightly cost.
Disney's Boardwalk Inn is a Disney hotel in the "Deluxe Resort" category.
What are the services, facilities, and amenities at the Boardwalk Inn?

Some great services, in addition to those normally provided at a resort, are: business center, concierge service, express check-out, 24-hour front desk, disabled-accessible rooms, laundry/valet services, meeting and banquet facilities, valet parking ($ per day/car), and room service.
How do I get to all of the wonderful places at WDW?

You picked a great resort because it is all about Location! Location! Location!
Epcot is a pleasant 5 minute stroll from the Boardwalk Inn. Or if you choose you can catch a Friendship boat from the boat dock right outside on the Boardwalk. The boats leave every 20 minutes and those on the right side of the dock will bring you to the International Gateway, right at Epcot's ticket gates. I highly recommend walking to Epcot. Nine times out of 10 it is much faster than taking the Friendship boat.
To reach the Disney's Hollywood Studios you have two options. You could take a leisurely 15 to 20 minute stroll along the approximately one-mile long path along the waterway connecting the Epcot resort area with the Disney's Hollywood Studios. Or you can take the Friendship boat from the left side of the boat dock on the Boardwalk, making stops at the Yacht and Beach Club dock and then the Swan and Dolphin dock before continuing on to the Studios. Don't worry if you just miss the boat and don't want to wait the 20 minutes for the next one, and don't want to walk all the way to the Studios. Just walk on over to the Swan and Dolphin dock and pick up the boat there.
There are direct buses in front of the hotel to the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, and Downtown Disney (with stops at the Marketplace and the West Side). You can connect to other Disney resorts from either the Marketplace or from the parks.
I know my room will have beds and a bathroom, but what else?

The rooms at the Boardwalk Inn have been thoughtfully stocked with many extras. The closet contains an ironing board, iron, portable crib, small safe for your valuables, and hangers. Hair dryers and make-up mirrors are mounted on the wall in the vanity area. Alarm clocks are provided so you can be the first one in the parks. The rooms are also wired for High Speed Internet Access, which is available for a daily charge -- a cable is usually available in a bag on a hanger in the closet; if not, request one from Housekeeping.
What about a refrigerator?

Small refrigerators are in all Boardwalk rooms for no additional charge. The refrigerators are handy for snacks, sodas, and baby supplies.
I have to have my morning coffee!

Coffee pots and coffee are provided in your room. In addition, the Boardwalk Bakery offers you an early morning opportunity to see a "Bun-rise" while having your Java fix. Cappuccino and espressos, as well specially made fresh baked goods are offered. Open at 7:00 am (hours subject to change seasonally)
There is also a cart on the Boardwalk called Boardwalk Joe's that serves freshly brewed coffee, cappuccino, espresso, flavored coffees and assorted pastries. Its hours are subject to change seasonally.
Is there a lounge in the hotel where I can relax and have a drink?

Yes, the Belle Vue Room is located on the Boardwalk Inn side of the complex. There is a balcony that offers a view of Crescent Lake. Hours are 5 p.m. until midnight. (You can also get your morning coffee/tea here.)
What are the dining options?

Dining options at the Boardwalk Inn are endless. Not only are Epcot and all of its wonderful restaurants just a stroll away, but you also have all of the dining options at the Swan/Dolphin, and the Yacht and Beach Club right there also. The Boardwalkitself boasts many great dining opportunities.
The ESPN Club is a sports club with sports aplenty on the TVs that dot the establishment. The food is standard sports club fare such as burgers, sandwiches, drinks, appetizers, and desserts. The atmosphere is fun and inviting to families for lunch and dinner.
The BoardWalk Bakery offers baked goods, espressos, and cappuccinos, 6:30am to 11:00pm. Expect long lines in the morning, especially before Kouzzina opens.
Kouzzina offers Mediterranean cuisine in a lively atmosphere. Breakfast and dinner are served. Open 7:30 am to 11:00 am and 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 P.M.
Boardwalk also has a Pizza Take Out window. Open noon to midnight.
Seashore Sweets serves hand-dipped ice cream, salt water taffy, candy, chocolate and cookies. Open 1 p.m. to 11:00pm.
The Flying Fish Cafe presents diners with fresh selections of seafood and steaks. There is an open kitchen there you can watch the chefs work their magic. A great place for a special meal. The Flying Fish is only open for dinner hours. Open Sunday through Thursday 5:30 to 10:00 P.M. Open Friday and Saturday 5:30 to 10:30 P.M.
Big River Grille and Brewing Works is a must for any ale or micro-brew fan. Big River has tempting selections of beer breads, sausages, gourmet burgers and salads. A lighthearted atmosphere for a casual meal. Open 11:30 a.m. to midnight. Dine in or out on the Boardwalk.
Leaping Horse Libations at Luna Park is a great place for a sandwich or hot dog, generally open 11am til dusk.
There are also several carts along the Boardwalk, mainly open in the evenings such as the Boardwalk Hot Dog Cart and the Italian Ice Cart.
What about night spots on the Boardwalk?

The Boardwalk itself with the live entertainers who invite you to participate in the magical silliness.
Atlantic Dance is the place to go for music and dancing. Jellyrolls features nonstop live entertainment on two dueling pianos as you join in the fun with singing and surprises (cover charge applies and smoking is allowed). ESPN Club keeps the excitement of the games alive all night with updates and prize giveaways. Check here for more information about the Boardwalk at night.
Where can I buy a T-shirt and some toothpaste?

Dundy's Sundries (very small) is located just off the lobby on the Villa side. It stocks resort logo merchandise and some basic necessities and toiletries. Disney's Character Carnival, Screen Door General Store, and Thimbles and Threads are all located on the Boardwalk. The three stores comprise one giant store and feature character merchandise, clothing for the whole family, as well as groceries and snacks. Wyland Galleries showcases contemporary, environmental art on the Boardwalk Sports fans can find ESPN merchandise at the ESPN Club.
Help! I've run out of clean clothes! Can you point me in the direction of the laundry room?

On the 3rd floor of the Boardwalk Inn there is a laundry room accessible only to Inn guests via their room keys. There are three washing machines, one commercial sized washing machine, and six clothes dryers. Each of these machines costs $2 a load to run. Additionally there is a television, a large table on which to fold your laundry, two chairs, three rolling laundry baskets, a telephone and a vending machine selling laundry supplies (Tide, Cheer, Bounce (2 sheets), Clorox 2) at a cost of $1 per box.
Can anyone recommend a baby-sitter for the evening?

The Boardwalk's Harbor Club --a supervised activity center for children 4-12 -- is closed indefinitely. You can use the Sandcastle Club at the Yacht and Beach Club on the other side of the lake. Visit our Childcare FAQ for more info, as well as info on private baby-sitting services.
What types of activities can be found on the Boardwalk?

The Boardwalk offers a wide range of activities that differs from day to day. Seasonally, you will find midway games, jugglers, entertainers, hand wax molds, food vendors, magic shows. Bike riding along the Boardwalk is a popular past time. At night, the night clubs and restaurants spring to life and bring with them music, laughter, and people.
One of the favorite activities for families and groups are renting the Surrey Bikes. You can pedal your way around Crescent Lake over to the Beach/Yacht Club, Swan/Dolphin. Surrey bikes are not allowed on the walkway to Epcot's World Showcase. Rentals are available on the Boardwalk itself.
Visit our Boardwalk section for more details.
Tell me about the pools and other recreation options.

The Boardwalk's themed swimming area is known as Luna Park, and features a large pool with a 200 foot water slide called "Keister Coaster." The pool area has the theming of a turn of the century carnival. Even the water slide looks like a wooden roller coaster. There are playful elephants to shower you before entering the pool. The play area for the resort, Luna Park Crazy House, is also located here. Life guards are only on duty at Luna Pool.
There is a Poolside bar, Leaping Horse Libations, conveniently located next to Luna Park for drinks and snacks. You can't miss it, the bar is shaped like a giant carousel.
Swimming tubes, noodles, and towels are available at a stand near the pool, where they also check resort ID.
There are two quiet pools: one is located within the Inn's Rose Garden Courtyard, the other next to Community Hall in the Villa area.
Muscles and Bustles Health Club offers free weights, Life Fitness, Stairmaster and Cybex exercise equipment.  Also available are: steam room, sauna, tanning bed and massage therapies. The health club is located near Luna Park and is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Membership is free to Boardwalk resort guests for the length of their stay. Disney Vacation Club members may use the facilities free if they are staying at a Disney resort. Guests from other Disney resorts can use the facilities for $/day, based on availability.
Niki Bryan Spa company runs the Massage and Fitness Center. To schedule a massage, make your appointment as far in advance as possible by calling 407- 934-2370. Personal Training is available upon request in each Fitness Center, 24 hour notice is required.
An Epcot resort jogging trail map is available from the Health Club.
Community Hall offers a wide range of equipment to pursue just about any recreational inclination. Inquire about fishing trips (there's even one just for kids! $30) at the Hall. Community Hall is on the Villa side and rents bikes ($7.00/hour), tubes, noodles, videos ($3.18), and tennis rackets ($5.30). You can also play ping pong, croquet and more. The paths around the Boardwalk Inn and Villas make for a beautiful run or walk. Marine activities are only as far as the Yacht Club harbor. Bicycles are a great way to motor around the Crescent Lake area and see all of the hotels and their grounds.
There are two lighted surfaced Tennis Courts located on the Villa side of the resort. Courts are free to Boardwalk Inn and Villa guests.  Make reservations at Community Hall. Rental equipment is available.
If you are hooked on fishing, be sure to inquire about the guided fishing excursions!
How do I use valet parking?

Simply drive your vehicle to the front of the resort and a Cast Member will them park it for you. Valet parking is $12 per car for the day, even if you are staying at the Boardwalk. Don't forget to tip the valet (both the one who takes your car and the one who brings it back to you - $1-2 is recommended) When you need to retrieve your vehicle, simply give the valet your slip of paper you were given when the car was parked, and your car will promptly be delivered to the front of the hotel. When you are ready to get your car, call the valet stand from your room and ask for your car to be brought around. If you pay for valet at one Disney resort hotel, you can use valet at the other hotels - just tell them you are paying at the Boardwalk.
The Disney resorts contract out valet services, so you are dealing with a 3rd party, not Disney employed cast members.
Does the Boardwalk Inn have a Security Gate?

Yes, the Boardwalk complex has a guarded security gate. Upon initial arrival, simply explain to the guard you are checking in. Once you have checked in, your resort room key will also serve to open the security gates (pull on the right side to activate the guest gate). Be sure to have your resort key out when reentering through the security gate. During busy times ONLY Boardwalk resort guests may be allowed to enter the parking area.
My child is celebrating a birthday during our stay. Is there something special we can do at the Boardwalk?

Birthday party facilities are available at the Boardwalk Inn/Villa complex. Parties can include decorated party room, personalized cake, hot dogs and hamburgers, chips and sodas, balloons, candy, and swimming at Luna Park and free video arcade. Check with Cast Members at Community Hall.
Does the Boardwalk have Epcot Fireworks Cruises?

Yes, you can rent a Pontoon from the Yacht and Beach Club Marina to enjoy Epcot's Illuminations! This can also be a birthday cruise and will include a driver, cake, balloons, lights snacks and of course the fireworks.  For full details on the cruises visit the Illuminations page.
How do I find the Boardwalk Inn?

Take I-4 to Exit 67. Take 2nd exit (Epcot Resorts/Disney's Hollywood Studios). Turn right at 4th traffic signal. The Boardwalk Inn will be on the left.
I want the trip of a lifetime, but I don't want to spend a lifetime financing it!

There are many ways to save a few dollars on your accommodations at WDW. Disney offers several resort "seasons" throughout the year including a Value Season. Annual Passholders can save by visiting during annual Passholder specials. Florida residents get a break for living in the same state as the Mouse. Don't forget holidays are the most expensive time to visit, along with most of the summer. Generally, planning your trip during the off-season can save you money right off the bat.
TIPS on making the most of the Boardwalk Inn

The Boardwalk resort complex has been beautifully landscaped ; be sure to stroll the grounds. Not only can you find colorful flower beds, but you can also enjoy quiet surroundings, fountains and benches.
With a fresh cup of morning coffee, there are many wonderful places to sit and enjoy the view -- Luna Park, the quiet pools, the balcony off the lobby, or even the Boardwalk itself.
Guests cannot access the Boardwalk from the garden and quiet pool areas. You have to go into the lobby first. This is to ensure guests privacy and security.
If you're running late and miss the boat for Disney's Hollywood Studios, don't worry! The Boardwalk is the first stop on the loop of the boat--you can easily catch it at the Swan/Dolphin, which is the last stop.
There are refillable mugs available at the resort. See our refillable mugs page for details and pricing.
Jellyrolls charges a cover charge even if you are a resort guest.
Parking - - there is a HUGE lot (actually, two HUGE lots separated by the drive up to the front entrance) where you park your car. It's a long walk from your room to the car, unless you want to pay for valet parking.
The 390 square foot rooms were redecorated in 2008 with whites, light yellows, dark greens and light and dark wood furnishings; the bathrooms and vanities are marble.

I'm very excited to stay here but when I think of the Boardwalk Inn one special trip comes to mind. It was December of 2009 and I dragged Mike and the boys to all the resorts so I could see their trees and all the Christmas decorations.

We wandered into the Boardwalk Inn and saw this:

This image of Donald stuck in the fireplace deeply disturbed Brian. The rest of the trip all I heard was this:

Onto restaurants and photos of the resort
