Carry-On Baggage and Fees
Spirit may require that a carry-on item travel as checked baggage if the item cannot be safely stowed on a particular flight or if it doesn’t comply with Spirit’s baggage policies set forth herein, pursuant to Spirit’s Contract of Carriage available at www.spirit.com. *All customers who purchased reservations prior to April 6, 2010, for travel August 1, 2010 and beyond, will be “Grandfathered” and no carry-on bag charges will apply.
Carry-on bag dimensions for overhead bin space may not exceed 22 inches by 18 inches by 10 inches (55.9cm x 45.7cm x 25.4cm).
Checked Baggage
Fees apply for all checked baggage. All checked baggage fees are non-refundable and may be paid online at www.spirit.com or at the airport. Spirit offers a discount for reserving space for your checked bag online. A maximum of five (5) bags may be checked per customer, based on availability.Sporting Equipment
Spirit allows only one (1) sporting item per customer. A flat fee of $75.00 each leg will apply for all sporting equipment (scuba tanks, bicycles etc.) with the exception of golf clubs and surfboards.

Golf Clubs
Golf clubs can be transported as a normal checked item if within the standard checked baggage weight limit (size limits are waived for golf clubs). Checked baggage weight charges may apply. See Checked Baggage Size and Weight Fees for charges for applicable fees.
Surfboards
A fee of $100 will apply each way for surfboards. A maximum of two surfboards will be accepted per case. See Travel Policies/Special Items for more information.
Infant/Child Seats:
Bassinets, infant/child seats, and strollers are accepted as checked baggage at no charge, and are NOT considered part of the customer’s baggage allowance.
Wheelchairs
Wheelchairs and other mobility devices are accepted as checked baggage at no extra charge, and are NOT considered part of the customer’s normal baggage allowance.

A standard checked bag is defined as a bag not exceeding 62 linear inches/158cm (length + width + height) in overall size and 50 pounds/23kg in weight.Each checked bag must have identification on the outside of the bag. Spirit recommends placing identification tags inside luggage as well.

Year Round Baggage Limitations*
There are limits on the amount of baggage that can be transported in the cabin and cargo areas of the aircraft. Spirit guarantees all customers the ability to purchase one (1) checked bag, either via the web (spirit.com) or at the airport. With the exception of Lima, Peru (LIM), additional checked bag(s) may be pre-purchased via the web (spirit.com) based on bag(s) inventory availability. No additional checked bag(s) may be purchased at the airport for international destinations.
Customer Traveling To/From Lima*
Only one (1) checked bag per customer is permitted year round and it shall meet weight and size restrictions (e.g. no overweight or oversized checked bags are allowed).
